J. JOHN PRIOLA: FORM & IDEA

J. JOHN PRIOLA: FORM & IDEA

J. John Priola is an established Bay Area photographer who has exhibited locally, nationally, and internationally. His photography and video works reveal subtle details of mediated and natural landscapes, depicting what presence and absence look like, while vibrating in the space between art and idea. Known for working with a highly refined print quality and presentation of black and white photography, he works with digital media and video as well. Priola's work is included in private, corporate, and museum collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the SFMOMA. He received his BFA with Honors from Metropolitan State College in Denver and his MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute. In this evening's lecture, Priola will present an overview of his work, focusing on the process of moving in and out of the studio, while building form and idea.
