Laura Cunningham: Powers of Observation
Laura Cunningham will examine oil painting techniques from the 18th and 19th centuries and compare them to modern day plein-air practices. In the age of digital technology, the act of painting outside is now undergoing a revival. Cunningham believes the traditional Impressionist methods of patient observation and oil painting are still useful in training the artist’s eye. She will also elaborate how these techniques have informed her own studio art practice.
