Pictorial Arts Faculty Exhibition

Pictorial Arts Faculty Exhibition

A special opportunity to view recent works by current faculty in the Pictorial area within the Department of Art and Art History, this exhibition will feature a wide range of media, style, and technique. Showcasing a divergent group of artists who share an interest in working with pictorial arts media and a devotion to teaching, this exhibition is both provocative and stimulating, revealing a variety of conceptual emphases, aesthetics, and creative solutions to formalistic issues of composition, contour, and line. Each of these artists individually has received noteworthy acclaim for his or her works. As a group, they combine significant successes in regional, national, and international exhibitions and museum collections, as well as numerous grants and awards we are delighted to have this opportunity to feature their thoughtfulness creativity, and vision in this special display.

The artists who will be included in this periodic showing of pictorial faculty work are: Jason Adkins, Gale Antokal, Irene Carvajal, Robert Chiarito, Donald Feasel, Erik Friedman, Patrick Surgalski, and Matthew Taylor.

In conjunction with the opening of this exhibition, the exhibiting artists will provide a walk-through in the Thompson Art Gallery on August 29 from 5-6 pm. This presentation and the following opening reception, held immediately afterward from 6 – 7:30 pm, are free and open to the public.
