National Geographic Live Series
Cory Richards brings his adventures to life through his #LifeNoFilter presentation as part of the National Geographic Live tour series at the Hammer.
Richards' camera has taken him from the controlled and complex studio to the wild and remote corners of Nepal and Pakistan—all in attempt to capture not only the soul of adventure and exploration, but the beauty inherent in our modern society as well. His client list includes the National Geographic magazine, Outside, New York Times, Red Bull, and Fossil. His film work has won awards at nearly every major adventure film festival including the grand prize at the Banff Mountain Film Festival for his film Cold. In 2012, Richards was awarded the National Geographic Adventurer of the Year for his efforts as both a climber and visual storyteller.
Just like in his adventures, Cory Richard’s life has taken many twists and turns. His spark for adventure lit when he was three, he dropped out of high school when he was 14, and he became the first American to climb an 8,000-meter peak in winter at 29. These experiences have lent to Richards' insatiable pursuit and passion for exposing the story and richness of the human condition. As a climber, much of his work has extended from expeditions to the greater ranges of the world, where he has carved a niche as one of the leading adventure and expedition photographers.
“Expeditions are an incredible opportunity to see who people are and how they respond to struggle, both external and internal...and it's that that tells a great story,” says Cory Richards.
Join Cory Richards for a look at his adventures in the world's remote places, including an expedition to Antarctica described in the September 2013 National Geographic.
