The American Beethoven Society along with the Ira F. Brilliant Beethoven Center presents the first ever Beethoven Ball in San José!

This unique event will be held in the lovely San José Women’s Club, 75 South 11th Street in beautiful Naglee Park, on Saturday April 9th, beginning at 7:00 PM.

The Academy of Danse Libre and Dance Through Time will perform early 19th Century dances popular in Beethoven’s time, such as the Ländler, waltz and minuet. They will be accompanied by the SJSU Symphony Orchestra, Dr. Fred Cohen, Music Director, who will perform works of the period— so of which have not been heard in over 100 years! The audience will be invited to join the dancers—no previous experience required.

Tickets include one free glass of wine and a buffet of hors d’oeuvres and Viennese desserts. Period costume (Regency) admired but not required. Bring your friends and enjoy a step back in time!

ADDITIONAL EVENT: Prof. Joan Walton of the SJSU School of Music and Dance will teach the dances ahead of the Ball in an afternoon workshop at the same venue from 3:00-5:00 PM. Tickets: $5.
